Welcome to the MyData-lab!
The Mydata-lab is the central hub for anyone interested in digital self-monitoring and scientific insights into digital technology use. Our mission is to study real-world digital behavior in an ethically responsible way. To achieve this, we offer the Digital Device Use Self-Monitoring Platform (D2USP)—a software solution developed at the University of Zurich that enables the anonymous, secure, and transparent collection of digital behavioral data.
The Digital Device Use Self-Monitoring Platform (D2USP) is a platform for non-commercial foundational research on the digital transformation of society, based at the University of Zurich. Our goal is to study how people actually interact with digital devices—while ensuring full anonymity and privacy for all participants. Our research aims to support a deeper public understanding of how digital technologies shape our lives.
Our Core Principles
- Responsibility: All studies are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards.
- Anonymity: Protecting participants’ privacy is our top priority.
- Reliability: We develop tailored tools for measuring and analyzing digital behavior.
Data Protection Comes First: Nothing happens without your consent. When you participate in a study, we periodically ask whether—and which—of your data you would like to donate in anonymized form. Only after providing your explicit consent are your data prepared so they can be transmitted securely via our protected server.
